The Nigerian air force is to receive two ATR 42MP maritime patrol aircraft from 2009 under a $73 million deal with Alenia Aeronautica. The award also covers the provision of Airborne Tactical Observation System mission payloads from Galileo Avionica. The Finnish air force is to acquire 18 secondhand BAE Systems Hawk 66 trainers from the Swiss air force under a contract worth around €40 million ($53.7 million). The aircraft will bolster Finland's current fleet of 49 Hawk 51/51As, in use since 1980. Thales has been selected as preferred training partner for the Airbus Military A400M and signed agreements to deliver full-flight simulators and provide training solutions to France and the UK.
