Flight Vision has been celebrating at Paris with the news of a new contract for the Night Hawk, its newest product.

The head up display (HUD) has been chosen by Lockheed Martin skunk works for the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) concept demonstration aircraft programme.

The system includes a stroke on raster HUD and the FV-3000 modular mission display processor which allows symbols to be overlaid on raster image sources such as FLIR.

Sales manager Karl Zogg says: "Designed for any fighter aircraft, this robust system features a 30 degree total field of view and a large aperture."

It can be seen in Hall 3/C13a.

Other features include a graphical display of aircraft instrumentation and weapon aiming and delivery information.

Meeting stringent specifications for many military programmes, the HUD is cost-effective, compact and lightweight.

The American firm applies the weight and cost saving features from the Sparrow Hawk HUD, with the Night Hawk weighing in at 12kg (26lb).

Incorporating an up-front control panel and a compact NTSC or PAL format HUD video camera, it can record a high quality colour image of what the pilot sees.
