Perhaps mindful of the veritable 'minefield' of obstacles which can be encountered by visitors trying to gain access at the Paris show site, the organisers of the international aerospace exhibition in Thailand 22-26 October have signposted their expo in tantalising terms.

The location for the Thailand International Aerospace, Maritime and Defence Exhibition, Thai '97 - billed as the first complete tri-service exhibition in the region - is described as a "brisk, cool drive of approximately 20 minutes" from the seaside resort of Pattaya.

The show site at Utapao offers an international size airport and a deepsea port at Satahip.

Unlimited daily flying display time for exhibitors' aircraft will be complemented by a night flying display, and aerobatics performances by teams from the US and Australia.

Firing

Live firing exercises will be held at the Royal Thai Marine Firing range located near the exhibition sites, announce organisers UA Aerospace - Matha Janthorn Co Ltd.

Direct flights between Bangkok Airport and Utapao will aid site access, as will a helicopter shuttle service. HM King Bhumipol Adulyadej is expected to attend.
