A compromise agreed at an ICAO meeting in Montreal means Europe will have to wait three years before it can impose tax on aviation fuel. The meeting agreed to delay any decision until after the next ICAO assembly in 2007. Incoming European transport commissioner Jacques Barrot has indicated he will look at the issue again once oil prices come down.
