Northwest Airlines has withdrawn its proposal to acquire the outstanding shares of Mesaba Holdings, parent company of Mesaba Airlines.
Northwest holds a 28% stake in Minneapolis-based Mesaba, which operates as a Northwest Airlink carrier, and had proposed the additional stock purchase last November.
"Recent developments in the regional airline industry have caused us to re-evaluate our ownership relationships with the regional airlines," says Northwest.
