The Norwegian government has submitted a 2007 defence budget worth a proposed NKr31 billion ($4.6 billion), including new equipment purchases totalling NKr7.8 billion and a continued commitment to support NATO's International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan.
Air force procurements include the ongoing acquisition of BGT's IRIS-T short-range air-to-air missile and a tactical datalink for its Lockheed Martin F-16s, continuing system upgrades to its Lockheed P-3 maritime patrol aircraft, and funds to maintain its Lockheed C-130 transports and F-16s.
