US engineering company One Sky Aviation is applying for Federal Aviation Administration supplemental type certification for nose-mounted installation of the Astronics Max-Viz-1500 enhanced vision system on the Pilatus PC-12 single-engined turboprop series.
The Anchorage, Alaska-based company says it has secured a Fortune 100 corporation as the launch customer for the upgrade. "We hope to get this approved by the end of the year but that, of course, is dependent upon the ability of the FAA to dedicate adequate resources to the project in a tough budget environment," says One Sky Aviation director of STC development Cary Foster.
The Max-Viz-1500 offers image clarity and pilot-friendly features for performance in all phases of flight, says One Sky. The STC will come with a glare-shield mounted display and is compatible with the Honeywell Primus Apex integrated flightdeck installed on the latest generation PC-12NG.
