ATG sources new suite for redesigned light jet cockpit
Aviation Technology Group (ATG) has switched avionics supplier for its Javelin two-seat very light jet after redesigning the cockpit. Op Technologies has replaced Avidyne as supplier of the displays and other systems.
Englewood, Colorado-based ATG says the change resulted from its redesign of the Javelin cockpit from two displays to three, and from a sidestick to a centre stick. "Avidyne did not have a product to support the design, or our timeline, so we had to shop around," says ATG. Certification and deliveries are planned for 2008.
The new avionics suite will comprise three 5 x 7in (125 x 180mm) portrait displays in both the forward and aft cockpits, with a multifunction control and display unit (MCDU) located at the top centre of each instrument panel. The MCDU controls the flight management system and optional head-up display, says ATG.
Op Technologies and strategic partner Sandia Aerospace are also supplying the communications and navigation equipment, including dual VHF radios, dual VOR/ILS receivers, dual GPS/WAAS receivers and a Mode S transponder.
Beaverton, Oregon-based Op Technologies has not previously produced a certificated avionics system, ATG says. In July the company was selected by Seagull Aviation to develop a certificated three-screen glass cockpit for retrofit into Beechcraft King Air C/E90s.
