American Airlines will debut its new Boeing 737 Max 8 on flights between Miami and New York LaGuardia in November.
The Oneworld Alliance carrier plans to introduce the 172-seat aircraft on the route from 29 November, it confirms.
"We're excited for it to join the fleet," says an American spokesman, adding that there are more routes to come.
American is scheduled to take delivery of its first 737 Max (MSN 44459) in September, with three more due by the end of the year.
The airline is the second US carrier, after Southwest Airlines, to operate the 737 Max. Dallas-based Southwest will introduce the aircraft on 1 October.
American has firm orders for 100 737 Max 8s, the Flight Fleets Analyzer shows.
