Irish regional carrier CityJet is close to finalising an order for 15 Sukhoi Superjets to replace BAE Systems Avro RJ85s, sources familiar with the matter have indicated.
The deal, which also spans options for additional Superjets, will be confirmed at the European Regions Airline Association (ERA) general assembly being held in Berlin between 13 and 15 October, say sources.
Earlier this month, Intro Group-owned CityJet disclosed a firm order for eight Bombardier CRJ900s to be wet-leased to SAS. Up to 14 CRJ900s could be delivered to CityJet under its agreement with the Canadian airframer.
Flightglobal's Fleets Analyzer database shows that the CityJet fleet today comprises 18 RJ85s and one Fokker 50.
