Hong Kong Airlines has placed a firm order for nine Airbus A330-300 aircraft.
"Today's announcement underscores our plan to operate an extensive regional network in Asia," says the carrier's president Zhang Kui, in a joint statement with Airbus.
Airbus did not provide a schedule for the deliveries.
"The A330’s flexibility also allows us to further deploy these aircraft to some long haul routes in the future, and we are going to operate the all-new A350 XWB in 2017 which will open a new chapter of our international operations."
The Hong Kong-based carrier already operates 22 A330s, five A330-200Fs, and 11 A320s.
Flight Fleets Analyzer shows that prior to this deal, the carrier already had firm orders for 23 aircraft: 15 A350-900s, two A320s, and six Boeing 777Fs.
