European airline group IAG has disclosed its conversion of two more Airbus A320neo options into firm orders for Iberia.
The two options are from the 100 that IAG took in August 2013. As part of that deal, it also placed firm orders on behalf of its other Spanish unit, Vueling, for 30 A320ceos and 32 A320neos, taking 58 options for use by that carrier. The further 100 options could be used by British Airways, Iberia or Vueling, the group specified at the time.
Iberia
CFM International Leap-1A engines will power the two newly firmed A320neos, scheduled for delivery in 2021. They will replace two A320ceos in Iberia's fleet.
Cirium's Fleets Analyzer shows that Vueling has 17 A320neos in service, of which six are leased, and 18 on order. It still holds the 58 options.
Iberia has four A320neos in service – three of them leased – and, before today's disclosure, had 11 on order.
BA has 10 A320neos in service, all leased, and 12 on order.
IAG as a group still holds 68 A320neo options in addition to Vueling's 58, Fleets Analyzer indicates.
The group has five A321neos in service and 49 on order. It holds options on a further 14.
