Indian low-cost giant IndiGo has firmed an order for 250 Airbus A320neo aircraft, the largest order by number for the Toulouse-based airframer.

The IndiGo team is even more energised and excited than ever before to herald this new phase of our growth for many years to come,” says carrier president Aditya Ghosh.
This order pushes the A320neo order backlog to over 4,100 aircraft, says Airbus.

Ascend Fleets database lists IndiGo as an all-A320 operator, with 97 operational aircraft.
The announcement follows a previous disclosure by InterGlobe Aviation, parent of Indian low-cost carrier IndiGo, that the terms of an earlier memorandum of understanding for 250 Airbus A320neo family aircraft had expired. The MoU was signed in October last year.
“Although the term sheet has expired, we remain in active discussions concerning the potential acquisition of a significant number of aircraft from the A320neo family,” said InterGlobe in early July.
