Juneyao Airlines has finalised an order for five Boeing 787-9s, its first widebodies.
The Shanghai-based carrier also has options for an additional five of the type, but has not disclosed its engine choice.
“Our strategic vision is to develop into an international airline that provides high quality services with an extended network, while ensuring excellent profitability,” says Juneyao’s chairman Wang Junjin.
The agreement, valued at $1.32 billion at list prices, follows a memorandum of understanding signed with Boeing last September. In late January, its board approved moving to a firm order for five aircraft and five options.
The airline expects the firm-order aircraft to be delivered in 2018 and 2019.
Flight Fleets Analyzer shows that the Chinese carrier operates a fleet of 60 Airbus A320 family jets.
