Aircraft lessor SMBC Aviation Capital is to purchase three more Boeing 737-800s, bringing its total owned, managed and committed portfolio for the type to 198.
The lessor says two of the new aircraft will be placed on lease with Japanese carrier All Nippon Airways.
The Star Alliance airline earlier this month told FlightGlobal it was leasing two more 737s from SMBC - as well as two from BOC Aviation - for delivery in its 2018 financial year to cope with an aircraft shortage due to the delay of the MRJ regional jet programme.
SMBC says the third new aircraft will be placed on lease in the coming weeks.
All three aircraft will be powered with CFM International engines.
SMBC Aviation Capital chief executive Peter Barrett says: "As the size of our portfolio of 737-800s indicates, it is an aircraft for which we see substantial demand from our customer base and which has been a core part of our offering over many years.
"Above all, this transaction has come to fruition because of our strong relationship with ANA and underpins our ability to work closely with our OEM partners to deliver near term opportunities for our airline customers," he adds.
