The first Boeing 787-8 bound for American Airlines has moved onto the final assembly at the airframer’s factory in Everett, Washington.
The Fort Worth, Texas-based carrier released a picture of the aircraft mid-body in the 1A position on the line where it will be joined with the wings, on its Facebook page today.
American plans to take delivery of the aircraft in November with entry-into-service on domestic routes planned for early 2015, chief operating officer Robert Isom told Flightglobal in August.
The airline’s first 787-8 is registered N800AN and is MSN 40618, the Ascend Fleets database shows. Its second aircraft, registration N801AC and MSN 40619, is scheduled for delivery in December.
American has firm orders for 16 787-8s and 26 787-9s, Ascend shows.
