Michael Goulian, 41-year old Red Bull Air Race pilot, and acrobatic aviator, paid a visit during AirVenture 2010 to league sponsor Cirrus. He discussed some of the hairier moments he’s found himself in as he works to ring every last ounce of performance out of his Zivko Edge 540 acrobatic aircraft.
Cirrus began sponsoring the Red Bull Air Races in February. Cirrus chairman Dale Klapmeier says that the company’s sponsorship of the air races was born out of a desire to engage young people through aviation. “As an industry we have to find a way to attract kids to the industry,” he says. “We need to relate to the new generation. All kids drink Red Bull – it’s a drink for the new generation.”
