Air Vanuatu, the international carrier for the South Pacific Island state, is preparing to compete in the domestic market against fellow state-owned airline Vanair, which is up for sale. Air Vanuatu is due to take delivery of an ex-American Eagle Airlines ATR 42-300 in late November, which is understood to have been leased from Irish lessor Magellan Air. Air Vanuatu plans to operate the 46-seater on two of Vanair's profitable routes from the capital Port Vila to the islands of Santo and Tanna.
