Pacific satellites

Six Chinese and Singapore-based companies plan to launch a $640 million Asia Pacific Mobile Telecommunications satellite system for the Asia-Pacific region, starting in 1998. Thailand and Japan may join the project. The project is the latest of several satellite programmes planned by Asia-Pacific region companies.
