Integrated Defence Systems (IDS) of Pakistan believes it is within striking distance of success in its efforts to break in to the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) sector.
"We started marketing UAVs about three years ago and we're very close to making a breakthrough, although it would be premature to disclose more details," says Asad Kamal, IDS assistant marketing manager.
The company's Vector and Hornet MK-V surveillance UAVs can be seen at the show (Stand E721) and IDS is currently developing the Nishan TJ, a turbojet variant of its Nishan Mk-II aerial target.
IDS believes its products have a major cost advantage over Western UAVs, with its equipment selling for around one-third the price of their Western counterparts, says Kamal. In addition, some of the company's products have been designed to be capable of using the launcher of the widely-available Meggitt Aerospace Banshee.
