Kuwaiti lessor Aviation Lease and Finance Company (ALAFCO) has firmed up its commitment for a dozen Airbus A350 XWB aircraft and placed orders for seven more A320 narrowbodies.

ALAFCO initially committed to a dozen A350-800s at the Dubai air show in late 2005, before Airbus revamped the programme as the A350 XWB.

ALAFCO has now during the Paris air show confirmed its commitment to the aircraft by signing a firm contract for 12 A350 XWBs. It has also transferred its six options to the new aircraft as well.

The lessor has also during the show signed for an additional seven A320s.

Deliveries of the A350 to the lessor run from 2015 to 2017, while A320 deliveries begin in 2012.

ALAFCO chairman and CEO Ahme Al Zabin says: “We believe in investing for the future and that is exactly what the A350 XWB represents, a good investment with a bright future.”

The Kuwaiti company earlier this year became the first Middle East customer for Boeing’s 787 when it placed an order for 12 of the type, again taking options on six more of the type.
