A French air force crew has demonstrated the unloading of a Nexter Caesar self-propelled howitzer system.
The unloading of the 17.7t vehicle, which mounts a 155mm gun, required just one A400M load master and the vehicle’s operator.
The entire operation, conducted near the Airbus chalet, took about 2min. It was no more complicated than a person helping a driver back a car out of a parking space.
A Nexter official says that the demonstration was staged to illustrate the Caesar’s mobility, as well as the A400M's flexibility with large payloads. The weapon, which requires a crew of four to five, can be operational 10min after leaving the A400M's cargo hold.
Flight Fleets Analyzer shows that France has 11 in-service A400Ms, and orders for an additional 39.
