Safran company Messier-Dowty is exhibiting a full-size mock-up of its six-wheel main landing gear unit for the largest A350 model, the -1000.
Pictured here towering over Safran's Samirah Golaup, the six-wheel configuration is designed to accommodate the higher, 298t maximum take-off weight of the largest A350 variant, which is due to enter service in 2015.
A more traditional four-wheel design will equip the smaller A350-800/900 models. Messier says that most of the gear's structural components will be made of titanium.
