Radar technology developed to alert US Air Force fighter pilots of other aerial threats has been repackaged to provide the same service to ground troops.
Northrop Grumman is to demonstrate the new ground-based fighter radar to serve as an air defence alerting system on a high-mobility multipurpose wheeled vehicle. The active electronically scanned array (AESA) is being offered to the US Army and Marine Corps.
The demonstration of the 360° sensor took place at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland, Northrop says.
Northrop also builds the APG-77 AESA for the F-22 and the APG-81 for the F-35.
