Exton, Pennsylvania-based avionics supplier Innovative Solutions & Support has been given supplemental type certification by the European Aviation Safety Agency for its retrofit "glass cockpit" display system for Boeing 757 aircraft.
The equipment comprises primary flight, navigation and multi-function displays for the engine indicating and crew alerting system as well as Class 3 electronic flight bag functionalities.
The first European customer is Icelandair, which operates an all-757 fleet of 18 aircraft, as listed in Flightglobal's ACAS database.
The EASA certificate follows previous approvals by the US Federal Aviation Administration and Transport Canada.
ISS also revealed that its flight management system is now being used on the Eclipse Aerospace Twin-Engine Jet. The equipment offers precision navigation capabilities using wide-area augmentation systems and satellite-based augmentation systems, as well as e-chart, mapping and satellite weather functionalities.
