THE PARIS international air show at Le Bourget in June is likely to see the debuts of a variety of aircraft.

The Eurofighter EF2000 combat aircraft, the Rockwell/Daimler-Benz Aerospace X-31 research aircraft, the Boeing 777 twin-engine wide-body, the Bell Boeing V-22 tilt-rotor and the Eurocopter EC135 helicopter are all scheduled to have their debuts in Paris.

The EF2000 will prove to be a large attraction. The flight-test programme has yet to get under way again after a series of planned flight-control-system upgrades, which have grounded the aircraft since late 1994. Any further delays would jeopardise its appearance.

The Russians are expected to exhibit the Sukhoi Su-32FN primary trainer, the Su-35 air superiority fighter, the Su-29LL, the Beriev Be-200 amphibian, the Tupolev Tu-334 regional turbofan and the Yakovlev Yak-130BTS advanced jet trainer. The Mikoyan MiG-AT jet trainer is also expected.

The Australian Eagle X-TS two-seater will make its UK and European debut at the North Weald 95 business and general-aviation show in September.
