US lessor GECAS has ordered another 60 Airbus A320neo jets, doubling its commitment to the re-engined type.
GECAS had previously opted to take 60 of the type in 2011.
It has again, unsurprisingly, chosen the CFM International Leap-1A powerplant for the aircraft – the engine in which GE is a development partner.
GECAS chief Norman Liu says that the A320neo will be the “mainstay” in its single-aisle portfolio for several years.
The lessor has ordered a total of 465 A320-family jets over the years, including the 120 A320neos.
No delivery date has been given for the jets in the follow-on order.
