PARIS: Irkut president sets out MC-21 ambitions

Do not question Oleg Demchenko’s ambition. As the president of Irkut, the chain-smoking 71-year-old executive is leading a Russian company with little track record in the commercial market into a direct sales confrontation against Airbus and Boeing, which, Demchenko notes, will do “anything they can” to stop a new competitor.
