Lufthansa Technik has broken ground on a new line maintenance hangar at the future Berlin Brandenburg International airport. The €14 million ($20 million) facility is to be opened in June 2012. The city's Tegel airport will then be closed, and LHT's line maintenance operations at Tegel will be moved to Brandenburg. The new hangar will be able to accommodate up to five narrowbody aircraft or one widebody up to the size of an Airbus A340.
