Germany’s Liebherr is to develop and manufacture a power drive unit and hydraulic motor for the leading edge actuation system on the Boeing 777X.
Liebherr says the components for the new widebody are required to be “compact, extremely reliable and light in weight”.
The new contract is in addition to parts the firm is working on for the big twin’s folding wing-tip system, including the latch pin actuator and secondary lock actuator.
Boeing's new developmental GE Aviation GE9X-powered twinjet is due for service entry in 2020.
