Qatar Airways is to showcase five aircraft at Paris – a record for one airline and two more than it had on display at Farnborough last year, which was itself unprecedented.
The fast-growing Gulf carrier’s line up on the static display will comprise:
- The Airbus A350-900. The Doha airline was the launch customer for the widebody and launched services to Frankfurt earlier this year.
- An Airbus A380. The 517-seat superjumbo joined the Qatar fleet last year and flies between Doha and Bangkok, Paris and London.
- A Boeing 787-8, which has 22 seats in business class and 232 in economy. Qatar’s first Dreamliner was delivered in the second half of 2012.
- An Airbus A320. The emerging workhorse of Qatar’s short-haul fleet, the airline placed an order for 24 A320 family aircraft at the 2009 Paris air show. All its A320s are being upgraded to include lie-flat business class beds.
- An Airbus A319 in 40-seat all-business class configuration, which flies daily to London Heathrow. The aircraft has a 2-2 seating layout.
At Farnborough, Qatar’s display consisted of an A320 with sharklets, its 787 and a still-to-be-delivered A350 in hybrid Airbus/Qatar colours. Its first A380 was due to join the trio, but was delayed.
