Rafael is to supply four additional Iron Dome counter rocket systems to the Israeli defence forces. The US government has approved an extra $200 million for the systems.

Iron Dome is a dual mission counter rocket, artillery and mortar and very short-range air defence system. Two operational systems already defend two cities in southern Israel that have been hit with rockets launched from Gaza. It became battle proven in April after intercepting Grad rockets fired from Gaza.

Iron Dome uses a unique interceptor with a warhead that detonates targets in the air within seconds.
