Sealant specialist Simrit says it is sticking to what it does best: providing "sealing solutions" designed to cope with the fuel-hungry and ultra-high and -low temperature demands of modern aviation.
The California-based company, established in the USA for 15 years, is also at Paris to promote its young European business - it opened a facility in Lutterworth, UK two-and-a-half years ago.
Simrit's customers include most of the major airframers as well as many engine and first-tier systems suppliers. Two of its newer technologies, being showcased here, are low-density materials - demonstrated at the show floating in a vase of water - and products designed to handle intense engine temperatures.
"Lightweight sealants are crucial," said Vinay Nilkanth, vice-president global sales aerospace. "If we can reduce the weight by 15-20%, it offers airlines huge savings."
Also, with engines operating hotter than ever and aircraft flying at higher altitudes, the "temperature window is expanding", he added. "We can offer materials that are more durable at these sorts of extreme temperatures."
Simrit's product range includes airframe, fire resistant and plate seals, as well as Simmerrings and O-rings. The company is part of German industrial group Freudenberg.
