Alenia returns to Paris with the Sky-Y unmanned air vehicle testbed. The aircraft is in the midst of its fourth testing regime, the latest intended to test flight control software. The aircraft made its first flight in June 2007.

Originally intended as a demonstrator for the Molynx, an as-yet unbuilt medium-altitude long-endurance (MALE) UAV, Sky-Y has recently been used to test software and hardware for manned aircraft.

Alenia is seeking partners for a potential production version, a competitor to the BAe/Dassault Telemos UAV. The project is dependent on exports due to defence cutbacks by Italy, Alenia's go-to customer.
