Switzerland-based helicopter emergency medical service (HEMS) operator Rega has taken delivery of a new AgustaWestland GrandNew full flight simulator, following certification earlier this year of the device by Swiss regulator FOCA.
The FFS will support Rega's training requirements for its fleet of Da Vinci and GrandNew light twins.
Designed and produced by AgustaWestland in Sesto Calende in Italy, the simulator was successfully certificated by FOCA in February 2013 and is now fully operational.
Under the contract AgustaWestland is also providing technical support and assistance in maintaining the FFS.
The Anglo-Italian airframer has additionally signed a co-operation agreement with Swiss Aviation Training (SAT) for the supply of synthetic training services through Rega's simulator.
The training services will be available for customers operating GrandNew light twin helicopters, with courses being carried out at the SAT Training Centre, located in Zurich.
Under the agreement AgustaWestland's training academy will deliver type rating, refresher and recurrent courses, as well as instructor training, comprising theoretical ground training in the classroom and/or via distance learning. It will also utilise the FFS, which will be operated and maintained by SAT.
