Xiamen Airlines has signed a letter of intent with GE Aviation for a $560 million GEnx-1B engine deal to power its six Boeing 787 Dreamliners, which includes the cost of the engines and an OnPoint maintenance agreement.
"We selected the GEnx-1B engine for its excellent fuel efficiency, reduced emissions and lower noise levels," said Che Shanglun, Xiamen Airlines' chairman and president. "With the engine's outstanding economy and operational performance, we look forward to the GEnx-powered Boeing 787 Dreamliners joining our fleet and helping us with our continued profitability."
Deliveries of the aircraft begin in 2014. GE's orderbook has reached nearly 850 engines for 30 customers.
