The UK's Civil Aviation Authority has announced the appointment of Sir Roy McNulty as chairman with effect from 17 September. McNulty was previously head of the UK National Air Traffic Services (NATS). He joined NATS from Shorts Brothers where he was chairman. Tim Rice has been appointed managing director of the MRO branch of Messier Services UK. Rice replaces Robert Grainger who was appointed president of Messier Services America at the beginning of this year. Roger Morley has been made European regional sales director of spare parts supplier Airliance Materials. SITA has appointed Douglas Anderson as chief financial officer. Anderson joins from United Parcel Service where he was senior vice president and chief financial officer. Fenton Appleby has been promoted to vice president of sales and marketing development for the newly formed Wood Group Power aero propulsion division. Rolls-Royce has announced the appointment of Dr Michael Howse to the board as an executive director and director of engineering and technology. Howse joined Rolls-Royce in 1968 and has held a variety of positions in engineering. Piedmont Hawthorne has promoted Marge Becker to vice president and controller of all general and divisional accounting functions at the fixed base operations company. Peter Barrett and Donal Boylan have joined the Dublin-based office of Lombard Aviation Capital as chief operating officer and chief technical officer respectively. Barrett previously worked for KBC Finance Ireland and Boylan was an independent technical consultant. Colin Matthews has resigned as director of technical operations at British Airways to become managing director of Transco and executive member of the Lattice Group board. Steven Lever, formerly director of marketing and sales, has been promoted to vice president (commercial) at Saab Aircraft Leasing based in Stockholm.
