Hans Kruge, head of the Saab-BAE Systems joint venture which markets the Gripen fighter, has been named as the new deputy head of Saab Aerospace, with responsibility for commercial programmes, including planned participation in the Airbus A3XX and Airbus Military A400M projects. The new managing director of Saab-BAE Systems Gripen is Jan Narlinge, currently head of Saab business value development, who will also act as deputy head of Saab Aerospace with responsibility for Gripen exports. Boeing has appointed Thad Sandford vice president (VP), engineering of its Space and Communications group in Seal Beach, California. Britannia Airways has appointed Bob Batley manager, engineering & maintenance systems, at London Luton Airport. His role is likely to cover any joint initiatives with sister airline Hapag Lloyd. William Walthall is leaving BFGoodrich's aerospace division to become VP, engineered products, of its engineered industrial products division. As president, safety systems, Walthall was responsible for the company's aircraft evacuation, UPCO and AMI aircraft seating operations. David Coltman has been appointed non-executive director at British Regional AirLines. He most recently served as senior VP marketing with United Airlines. Northrop Grumman's IT, systems and services subsidiary Logicon has named Michael Butchko programme manager of its Space Gateway Support division's joint base operations and support contract, providing support at NASA's Kennedy Space Center and the USAF 45th Space Wing's Cape Canaveral and Patrick air force bases. Litton Industries has appointed John Donehoo president of its electro-optical systems division based in Garland, Texas. He replaces Steve Lambert, who has resigned. Finnair has appointed Jarmo Vilenius senior VP technical. Vilenius, previously VP maintenance production, replaces Jouko Malen, who has retired.
