British Airways' commercial director Carl Michel is leaving after a management shuffle by chief executive Rod Eddington. Former Deutsche BA chief Michel was appointed by former CEO Bob Ayling. The Star Alliance has completed its Alliance Management Team (AMT) executive body, with William Meaney, currently executive vice-president (VP) alliances, network and global sales at South African Airways, replacing retiring Friedel Rodig as CEO on 1 February. Louise McKenven moves from Air Canada, where she is head of marketing communications, to VP marketing for the alliance. Rick Merkatz has been named VP sales, joining from United Airlines where he is director of international market/sales planning. VP global network is Horst Findeisen, currently general manager network management at Lufthansa, replacing Ross MacCormack of Air Canada, who becomes chairman of the Star Alliance Management Board. Brock Friesen, formerly VP alliances at Canadian Airlines, is named VP strategy. Tom Burbage, formerly Lockheed Martin executive VP customer requirements, has been appointed executive VP and general manager of its Joint Strike Fighter team, replacing Frank Cappuccio, now tasked with developing a JSF proposal to meet US requirements. BFGoodrich has appointed David Shaw president of its Aviation Services Division. Shaw was previously VP & general manager of its Aerostructures Group. Shawn Vick has been named senior VP of international sales at Bombardier Aerospace Business Aircraft. Vick joins from Gulfstream Aerospace. FlightSafety Boeing Training International has appointed Pat Gaines executive VP, responsible for training centres worldwide. Gaines was previously VP corporate operations. Capt Paul Hinton becomes VP flight training and international operations. He was previously managing director, flight training operations.
