Bombardier Regional Aircraft has announced several management appointments. Jeff Mihalic will become vice-president (VP) and general manager customer services; former director marketing strategy Barry MacKinnon will become VP marketing and airline analysis; VP customer support Chris Beaton will take over as VP international sales, replacing John Howarth, who becomes senior adviser to president John Giraudy. John Montford has been nominated to the board of Southwest Airlines, subject to shareholders approval at the annual meeting on 15 May. Montford is senior VP legislative and political affairs at SBC communications. Charlie Hill, formerly a chief pilot with Continental Airlines and an instructor at the US Navy Fighter Weapons School, has been named director of operations for tactical aviation company AeroGroup. Alitalia has named Francesco Milazzi as VP and area manager northern Europe, replacing Niels Henrik Wulff. Milazzi was formerly VP sales and marketing North America. Glenn Hess, previously VP and general manager of Boeing's military aerospace support maintenance and modification unit, will take over as president and chief operating officer of Bell Helicopter. The post has been vacant since previous incumbent John Murphey was promoted to chairman and chief executive last September. Head of Swiss International Air Lines cargo division Heinz Kupferschmid is leaving the airline following "a difference in views on the strategic direction of Swiss cargo business".
