Ryanair's sales and marketing director Tim Jeans is quitting the Irish budget carrier to become managing director of UK tour company MyTravel Group's planned new low-cost airline. He is expected to be in position before the start of the winter season.

The head of Thales' defence business unit, Jean-Robert Martin, is to retire. François Lureau, executive vice-president and chief operation officer, will take over. As a result, Lureau has ceased running the aerospace business, which John Hughes, current executive vice-president and chief operating officer, has now added to existing responsibilities running the IT&S business.

Aviation General of Bethany, Oklahoma, has appointed Mathew Goodman as president and chief operating officer of its wholly owned subsidiary Commander Aircraft, the maker of Commander aircraft.

Per Tegner, director general of the Swedish National Space Board, has been made chairman of the European Space Agency (ESA) council for a two-year period. He replaces Alain Besoussan of France, whose term ran out at the end of June.

Rockwell Collins has appointed Dennis Helgeson as vice-president and general manager of business and regional systems for commercial systems.

Pratt & Whitney has named Dennis Enos as vice-president of the PW6000 programme, replacing Tom Davenport, who retired this month. Enos was vice-president of operational military engine programmes, overseeing the development of the F119 engine and the F100.

American Airlines has appointed Art Pappas as managing director of its Los Angeles hub. He succeeds George Hazy who was recently made vice-president of the carrier's Miami hub.

DHL Worldwide Express has promoted Randy Clark to senior vice-president sales and marketing for the Americas. Formerly senior vice-president, customer relations, Clark replaces Jeff Corbett, and will be based at DHL's Americas headquarters in San Francisco.
