General Dynamics has named Mark Haley vice-president (VP) and deputy general counsel, and Phebe Novakovic VP strategic planning. Ronald Mutzelburg has been named as director of Boeing's Phantom Works research division. Mutzelburg was formerly deputy director for air warfare in the acquisitions office of the US Department of Defense and has a background in programme management for the US Air Force. Boeing has also named Ian Thomas to head its new Integrated Defense Systems business in the UK. Meanwhile, Boeing Commercial Airplanes has appointed Marlin Dailey VP European sales and Daniel da Silva VP customer support Europe. Dr Bengt Halse, president and chief executive of Saab, has been elected president of AECMA, the European Association of Aerospace Industries. He succeeds Jean-Paul Béchat, chairman and chief executive of Snecma. Business jet developer Sino Swearingen has named Gene Comfort senior VP sales and marketing. Roger Pollazzi, chairman of Stellex Aerostructures, will take over as chief executive after the resignation of president and chief executive Roger Byer. Pollazzi will remain as chairman. Raynard Benvenuti will take over as president and chief operating officer, joining from Concord Investment Partners.
