Euan Baird, chairman of Rolls-Royce, has suffered a stroke. For the next three months his post will be taken by deputy chairman Lord Moore. Snecma has reshuffled its management in a series of cascading promotions. Dominique Paris, the former executive vice- president (EVP) propulsion, will move to the newly created position of EVP in charge of internal co-operation, while former EVP equipment Yves Imbert will become senior EVP in charge of strategy and development. Jean-Paul Herteman, former chairman of Snecma Moteurs, will replace Paris, and Imbert will be succeeded by Dominique Hédon. Herteman in turn will be replaced by Marc Ventre. Ventre's place as chairman of Snecma Services will be taken by Jean-Lin Fournereaux. Philippe Schleicher will replace Fournereaux as chief executive of Techspace Aero, Snecma's Belgian subsidiary. Swiss International Air Lines has named Oliver Evans head of passenger sales. He will retain his post as head of the company's Swiss WorldCargo business unit. Philip Male, formerly of BAE Systems Regional Aircraft, has been named head of ELTA's worldwide sales. Messier-Bugatti has promoted Francois Tarel to director of the wheels and brakes division, from director of wheels and brakes programmes. He replaces Jean-Marie Jacquet. James Beer has taken over as senior vice-president (VP) finance of AMR, parent company of American Airlines. Beer will be replaced as American's VP Europe and Asia by Craig Kreeger, currently general sales manager. Kreeger's place will be taken by David Cush. Airline IT company Sitahas appointed James Peters, formerly president of Datalex, its chief technology officer. Northrop Grumman has named as directors Ammgen chairman Kevin Sharer and retired Deloitte & Touche chairman Michael Cook, increasing the board to 13. Robert Bahlman, chief financial officer of Midwest Airlines parent company Midwest Express, will resign in February.
