Don Carty, formerly chairman and chief executive of American Airlines, is to join Hawaiian Airlines as non-executive chairman when it emerges from Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Carty will also invest an undisclosed amount in the airline. He resigned from American in April 2003. Thomas Stüger is to succeed Gerald Gallus, who is retiring, as director in charge of product and services at Lufthansa Technik. Boeing Capital chief financial officer Steve Vogeding has been named vice-president (VP) transition management and operations integration. His replacement is deputy chief financial officer Russ Evans. Treasurer John Rosenthal has become director of risk management, to be succeeded by assistant treasurer for global treasury operations Geoff Carpenter. Boeing Air Traffic Management president John Hayhurst is to retire on 1 April; his replacement is strategy VP Kevin Brown. Boeing director Paul Gray is to retire at the company's annual meeting on 3 May. Paul Barron, managing director of Alstom UK, will succeed Richard Everitt as chief executive of UK air traffic services provider NATS. Merged Japanese carrier Japan Airline System will be led by Japan Airlines (JAL) chief executive Isao Kaneko, who is due to be approved as chairman and chief executive in June. Japan Air System (JAS) senior VP Mitsuo Komatsubara will become president of JAL Domestic, and JAS president Minoru Morikawa will retire. Hidekazu Nishizuka, senior managing director of the joint JAL/JAS holding company, will become executive VPof JAL International and of the holding company. Arinc has confirmed that chief executive John Belcher will succeed James Pierce as chairman on his retirement. Belcher will remain as chief executive. Arinc also appointed Frederic Jacoby chairman of the engineering services division. Jacoby retains the post of general manager. Malaysia Airlines managing director Mohamad Nor Yusof is resigning to become chairman of the Malaysian Securities Commission.
