John Murphey has been appointed chief executive of the AgustaWestlandBell joint venture, formed to manufacture the US101 helicopter, one of the contestants for the US VXX presidential helicopter contract. Scott Dolan has been named president of United Cargo and senior VP of United Airlines. He is now chief operating officer of Atlas Air Worldwide Holdings, the parent company of Atlas Air and Polar Air Cargo. The International Air Transport Association (IATA) has named David Mawdsley as safety director and Brian Pearce as chief economist. Mawdsley was formerly head of corporate safety for Cathay Pacific; Pearce was the director of the Centre for Sustainable Investment, a UK charity. Mike Askew, formerly a director of GKN Westland Helicopters, has joined UK component manufacturer Doncasters as managing director of its aerospace division.
