• Air Malta chief executive Ernst Funk is to leave by the end of the year.
  • Gulf Air has appointed Tariq Sultan vice-president human resources. Ali Murtada, former head of cargo, has been appointed vice-president of the airline’s newly created business units division. Danny Barranger has been named acting vice-president marketing and sales.
  • KLM Royal Dutch Airlines has appointed Cees van Woudenberg to the Air France–KLM holding organisation. Joining Air France’s executive committee from the start of July, Van Woudenberg resigns as KLM managing director and chief human resources officer, leaving its board of managing directors with three statutory members.
  • Thales has appointed Patrice Durand vice-president and chief financial officer. He also joins Thales’s executive committee.
  • Sigmar Wittig, chairman of the executive board of the German Aerospace Centre, has been elected chairman of the European Space Agency council for the next two years.
  • Birgir Jónsson has been named as managing director of Iceland Express. Jónsson was previously sales and marketing director for the carrier and takes over from Almar Örn Hilmarsson, who has become managing director of sister company Sterling European.
  • Etihad Airways has appointed former Lufthansa executive Robert Strodel to the newly created position of chief executive.
  • Jet Aviation has appointed Thomas Ruedisuehli vice-president and general manager of Jet Aviation Singapore.
  •  Imagesat International, operator of Israel’s Eros A1 imaging satellite, has appointed Shimon Eckhaus, former vice-president of Israel Aircraft Industries, as its new president as it prepares to float its shares. - Banyan Air Service has named Jon Tonko as line service manager.
  •  Qantas has appointed Gen Peter Cosgrove as a non-executive director of the board.
  • Dassault has appointed Jacques Chauvet vice-president, Falcon customer service, eastern hemisphere.
