The first Tupolev Tu-154M to be equipped with Perm Motors' new Chapter 3 hushkit will undergo conversion in the fourth quarter. The work will be undertaken by the VARZ-400 repair station at Moscow Vnukovo airport, which is funding the project. The hushkit enables Tu-154Ms powered by D-30KU-154 engines that were not equipped with noise-absorbing panels during production to be Chapter 3 compliant. The engine is not dismantled for installation and no changes are made to the nacelle. The weight penalty per engine is 33kg (72lb).
