The Turkish air force has launched negotiations with Israel Aircraft Industries (IAI) over a possible deal to upgrade a further 40-50 McDonnellDouglas F-4E Phantom fighters with Israeli avionics. IAI is prime contractor on a 54-aircraft package launched in the late 1990s.
