Munich is the latest airport to receive its first visit from the Airbus A380. The 555-seat giant touched down at 12.35 p.m. local time on 28 March in front of thousands of onlookers, taking off again at 5.49 p.m.

The airport has been preparing for A380-sized aircraft since it began operations in 1992, the only adjustments necessary for the new Airbus being adjustments to the radii of some taxiways.

Munich has three positions designed for ultra-large airliners: two at terminal two and one at terminal one.
