Air France has unveiled a new livery, although the French flag-carrier has opted to retain much of its current design in the scheme.

The airline is to adopt a different lettering style on the forward fuselage - notably presenting 'Air France' as a single word - and has included a red motif resembling that on its CityJet subsidiary.

Air France's familiar 'barcode' fin design has also incorporated a few cosmetic changes.

It says the new logo, created by agency Brandimage, highlights the carrier's "ambition to be an international brand" but that the livery sticks with the French national colours of blue, white and red.

Air France adds that its fleet will be repainted gradually, during scheduled maintenance checks, in order to limit costs.
